7:26 PM ● i kind of did it?

no, just kidding. i still suck.

1. catch 22 - once more, with feeling. i tried to read this book years ago but couldn't quite get past the first few chapters (a common theme with me)

2. the lady in the van - WHY MUST I READ THE BOOK BEFORE WATCHING THE MOVIE? WHY CAN I NOT BE SUCH A PRETENTIOUS TWAT?
fucking nailed it. read it and watched the movie. maggie smith is a gem.

3. perks of being a wallflower - i watched the movie many years ago and had zero clue as to what was going on, what the plot was, why anyone would credit it as '[insert new generation name]'s are you there god, it's me Margaret.' i will endeavor to read the book to figure out wtf they were talking about because the movie perplexed me.

4. the lie - HOW MANY TIMES ARE WE GOING TO RESTART THIS BOOK WITH GOOD INTENTIONS, PUT IT DOWN, COME BACK TO IT, FORGET WHAT IT'S ABOUT AND THEN RINSE & REPEAT FOR TIME EVERLASTING??????? not once, not twice, not three times, but FOUR. the answer is four. it's a YA novel ffs, not war & peace.

5. trainspotting - because who doesn't like reading a light-hearted look at heroin addiction written in $@*%ing scottish? the answer: me, apparently. this will be on my to-read list probably until i die.

6. naked lunch thankfully it's not written in scottish slang, but a recurring theme about drug addiction, except written in the fast times of the beat-poet era, because i absolutely adored on the road (not).

7. the portrait of dorian grey - because i have a thing for homoerotic writing about fucking flowers, i guess? this came about during a phase i like to call 'i am a pretentious douche who has decided to become 'cultured' and read all the classics.' i have made it through half of that book and have never picked up another 'classic' because i have the attention span of gnat sometimes and reading those books make me want to gouge out my eyes.

8. peter pan - it was an assigned reading for one of my classes in university and do you think i read it then? no, i didn't. so i have to read it in my spare time because why the fuck not.

all of these books are piled in a neat stack beside my bed. it's now february 2019. one day...
